Although the book has universal appeal, its publication was prompted by the installation of two beehives on the roofs above the shops in the Whitefriars shopping centre in Canterbury. It was one of a range of initiatives aimed at supporting Canterbury in Bloom 2012.

We have produced some Canterbury Teachers’ Notes for local schools on how they can participate in Canterbury in Bloom and how to plant a bee-friendly garden. Some of the information contained in these Notes will also be of interest to schools generally.
